DON'T MISS TRACK 3
DIGITAL IDENTITY
AND FINANCE

Day 3  •  Full-Day Symposium

Africa's financial systems are being rebuilt from the ground up — and digital identity is at the centre of it. Track 3 at the ID4Africa 2026 AGM brings together the architects, regulators, and implementers driving this shift for a full day of substantive, practitioner-led dialogue structured around three of the most consequential issues in this space right now.

T3-1: eKYC - The Trust Layer for Digital Finance
08:30-10:30
The day opens with eKYC — tracing KYC's original social purpose through to its digital evolution as a scalable, risk-responsive model for financial access. The session examines what it takes to move beyond in-person compliance without leaving people behind or enabling new financial crime risks, drawing on real national implementations and closing with a regional case study on cross-border eKYC and what interoperability demands in practice.

T3-2: Cross-Border Identity Interoperability
12:00-14:15
The conversation then widens to cross-border interoperability — examining what continent-scale digital trade demands of identity systems. With AfCFTA accelerating the need for shared trust mechanisms across jurisdictions, the session maps the policy, legal, and technical implications for identity authorities, and introduces Legal Entity Identifiers (LEIs) as a critical and often overlooked category of digital identity that authorities will increasingly need to recognise and help govern.

T3-3: Open Finance as a Model for Digital Ecosystems
15:30-18:00
The Track closes with open finance — a structured, governed ecosystem and one of the most mature examples of identity-enabled, consent-based data sharing in practice. The session draws on African and global experience to extract a practical blueprint for extending trusted data exchange into health, agriculture, and public services, covering the governance, consent mechanisms, and safeguards required to make openness work at scale.
The AGM spans four days of plenaries and parallel tracks. To help you navigate the program, we’ve developed a visual guide showing where each segment fits within the overall architecture, featured in every newsletter for consistent orientation.

Since the Symposiums run across parallel tracks, no one can attend every session. To help you navigate the agenda and prioritize where to spend your time, we’ve created a set of Stakeholder Relevance Maps. These heatmaps highlight which sessions may be most relevant to different stakeholders, helping chart your pathway through the program & engage where it matters most.
